Precautions following Breast Augmentation Surgery

01. After-Surgery Position

1) For one week following the surgery, your upper body should be raised when lying down. If you feel discomfort or pain on your back, sleeping straight is okay.

2) For approximately three months after the surgery, sleep on your back, facing the ceiling. It is especially important not to lie on your side for 3 weeks after surgery. (It is possible to sleep on your stomach after 3 months.)

02. Post-Surgery Diet

1) You can eat 6 hours after surgery, but start with a light, liquid meal.
You may resume a normal diet, but please avoid very spicy or strongly seasoned foods.

03. Swelling Care

1)  Swelling will become more severe for 2-3 days following the surgery.  Following this time, the swelling will gradually go down over the next 2-4 weeks, though this varies from person to person.

2) The abdominal area may temporarily feel tight as swelling reduces from top to bottom.

04. Wound Care

1) After the surgery, you must wear the surgery bra provided by the clinic for 1 month.

2) You won’t need to have stitches removed, as we use internal sutures and a medical bond.

3) Pain will be most severe for 2-3 days following surgery.  The prescribed painkillers, T1(Tridol), may be taken during this time. T1(Tridol) is a strong painkiller and may cause dizziness and nausea.
If the side effects of the T1(Tridol) are too severe, please take another type of painkiller.

Ex: Tylenol, etc.

4) Laser scar treatment will begin 3 months after surgery.

5) Start applying scar ointment after 2~3 months.

(There is no prescription for this, as it is sold over the counter at pharmacies)

6) 3 sessions of high frequency treatment are provided and will start 7 days after surgery. Please make an appointment with the clinic for these treatments.

*Scarring from the surgery will differ depending on skin type.  Redness may occur for approximately 6 months and will usually improve greatly after 1 year.

7) Medical Drain Tube Care (Usually for Revision Surgery Cases)
If a drain tube is inserted, proper care is required.
By scanning the QR code, you can check the detailed instructions for drain tube management. In general, the drain tube is removed about 2–3 days after surgery, so please follow the provided instructions until then.

05. Sutures at the Incision Site

1) The blue or black sutures (such as Vicryl, PDS, etc.) placed inside the incision during surgery may become slightly visible or may protrude a little under the skin about 1 month after surgery.

This is a temporary and normal phenomenon, and these sutures will naturally dissolve inside the body within approximately 3 months, so there is no need to worry.

If the suture becomes exposed on the skin surface and you touch it or pull it, there is a risk of infection, inflammation, or wound disruption.

Do not touch or remove it yourself — please contact the clinic immediately for proper management.

06. Showering & Washing

1) You can shower the surgical area the day after the stitches are removed. Please shower only below the chest until the stitches are removed.

2) You can wash your face right after the surgery.

3) Public pools, saunas, and the beach are off-limits for one month after surgery. (Risk of infection)

07. Exercise

1) Exercise that puts pressure on the breasts can be resumed 3 months after surgery.

Ex) golf, swimming, chest muscle exercises, etc.

2) Light exercise, such as a short walk, can be resumed 2-3 days after surgery.

08. Medications

1) After you return home, please take the prescribed medications starting 30 minutes after your first meal. Take them regularly as instructed.
If you develop symptoms such as rash or allergic reaction after taking the medication, please contact the clinic.

2) Do not take aspirin or vitamin E for one week after surgery, as they may cause bleeding.

3) Start taking the Lukio medication to prevent capsular contracture, on the 11th day, after finishing all the prescribed antibiotics, digestive medication, and pain killers.

09. Alcohol & Smoking

1) Avoid alcohol and smoking for 1 month after surgery. It can worsen bleeding, wound healing, and infection risk.

    10. Sensations & Recovery Process

    1) Pulling and numbness in the skin are normal during recovery and will gradually recover over several months.

    2) Shooting pain and throbbing may differ from side to side and may recur for up to one year.  This is normal and is due to the nerves healing and returning, so there is nothing to worry about.

    3) Returning to daily activities may be limited for a while after surgery; however, in most cases this is possible within about 7-10 days.

    4) After surgery, you may temporarily hear air moving in the chest area. This is a natural phenomenon, so there is no need to worry.

    • Even if the surgery is successful, inadequate post-operative care may lead to complications or changes in shape.

※ Postoperative care is just as important as the surgery itself, so we ask for your cooperation in following these instructions.
※ If you have any questions or concerns, please feel free to contact the hospital at any time.
