Table of Contents
01. After-Surgery Position
After the procedure, it is best to keep your head elevated higher than your heart while sleeping.
02. Post-Surgery Diet
You may resume a normal diet, but please avoid very spicy or strongly seasoned foods.
03. Swelling Care
- For the first 2–3 days after surgery, swelling and bruising will gradually worsen. From around 2–4 weeks, they will slowly subside, although this varies from person to person.
- Including the day of surgery, apply cold compresses until day 3, then switch to warm compresses afterward. (Compress is provided by the clinic.)
- Cold compress: Use the cold pack after storing it in the freezer.
- Warm compress: Heat in the microwave for 15–20 seconds. (Do not overheat—there is a risk of bursting.)
- Due to temporary numbness in the treated area, you may not sense heat properly, increasing the risk of burns.
Always check the temperature with your hand before applying.
- About 2 weeks after surgery, the treated area may feel firm but will gradually soften.
This is a natural healing process, so please allow some time.
04. Incision & Wound Care
- 1. Sutures are removed 7 days after surgery.
Steri-strips applied at the hospital are removed after 3 days (half removal).
After removal, please apply antibiotic ointment to the incision area. - 2. After the stitches are removed, apply the beige skin tape provided by the hospital for about 3 months.
It is not necessary to apply the tape behind the ears. - 3. The compression band should be worn for 24 hours a day for 2 weeks.
It may be temporarily removed during meals or when washing the face.
Afterwards, it is recommended to continue wearing it while at home or during sleep. (at least 10 hours per day for one month). - • If the compression band is worn too tightly, blood circulation in the local area may decrease, which can cause pressure necrosis.
It is safest to maintain a consistent level of pressure that does not cause discomfort. - 4. If a thread lifting procedure was performed together, do not forcibly remove the needle holes in the lifting area.
It is recommended to cover them with a small DuoDERM dressing. - 5. High-frequency treatment for aftercare is performed twice after suture removal.
You may visit the hospital with a reservation. (Reservation inquiry: +82-10-3476-1175)
• If severe swelling or persistent severe pain occurs in the surgical area, please visit the hospital.
• To prevent infection, do not rub the surgical area with your hands for one week after suture removal.
• If the lifting thread protrudes from the insertion hole and can be touched, please visit the hospital.
05. Showering & Washing
- You may shower and wash your face starting the day after surgery.
Do not let water run over the incision directly.
(After removing the double-chin tape on post-op day 3, please apply a new waterproof band-aid before shampooing. Waterproof band-aids can be purchased at any pharmacy.) - Public pools, saunas, and the beach are prohibited for one month after surgery. (Risk of infection)
- Makeup and basic skincare products can be used starting the next day.
(When removing makeup, be careful not to let water soak directly onto the surgical tape.)
06. Exercise
- Normal daily activities are allowed. Light walking exercise can be resumed 1–2 weeks after surgery. Strenuous exercise is allowed after 1 month.
07. Medications
- After you return home, please take the prescribed medications starting 30 minutes after your first meal. Take them regularly as instructed.
If you develop symptoms such as rash or allergic reaction after taking the medication, please contact the clinic. - Do not take aspirin or vitamin E for one week after surgery, as they may cause bleeding.
08. Alcohol & Smoking
- Avoid alcohol and smoking for 1 month after surgery. It can worsen bleeding, wound healing, and infection risk.
09. Recovery / Progress
- 1. Skin stiffness or numbness is a normal part of the recovery process and will gradually improve over time.
- (Usually most noticeable during the first 1–2 months.)
- 2. The double chin surgical area may feel firm or temporarily uneven and lumpy.
- This will improve gradually over time. (Usually improves after about 3 months.)
- 3. During the surgical dissection process, tissues are separated, which may cause the skin to temporarily feel firm or palpable.
- This is a normal postoperative reaction and a natural phenomenon during the tissue adhesion process.
- 4. In rare cases, the nerve near the corner of the mouth may be temporarily affected, causing difficulty lifting the corner of the mouth.
- This typically improves over 2–3 months, so please do not worry.
- 5. Please avoid massage or applying pressure to the area for 1 month.
- 6. Please avoid Ulthera or ultrasound laser treatments on the double chin area for 6 months.
- 7. Avoid tilting your head backward to a 90-degree angle for long periods for 3 months.
- 8.The dissolvable threads used to tie the muscle require time to dissolve and adhere properly.
10. Scar Ointment Usage Guide
1. How to Use the Ointment
- Use either Dermatix Ultra Gel or Contractubex (choose one of the two products).
- For effective scar improvement, begin using the ointment 3 weeks after suture removal and continue consistently for at least 6 months.
- Clean the scar area and gently remove moisture before applying.
- Only use when the wound is completely healed. (Avoid use if the wound is still open.)
- Apply a small amount of ointment and spread it thinly over the skin. (An amount about the size of a pea is sufficient.)
- Gently massage the ointment into the scar area.
- Wait about 1–2 minutes for it to dry completely.
- It is recommended to apply twice a day (morning and evening).
2. Precautions
- After applying the ointment, avoid touching or scratching the scar area.
- Since UV exposure may worsen scar pigmentation, please use sunscreen when going outside.
- If skin irritation or an allergic reaction occurs during use, stop using the ointment immediately and contact the hospital.
※ Postoperative care is just as important as the surgery itself, so we kindly ask that you follow the care instructions closely.
※ If you have any questions or concerns, please do not hesitate to contact the hospital at any time.
